• Acrylic paint — the everyday workhorse. Water clean-up, fast drying, works on most surfaces. Mont Marte Signature, Premium Satin and Premium Dimension lines. Most beginners start here.
• Oil paint — the classical look. Long open time, deep blending, atmospheric layering. Mont Marte Premium 75ml in 46 colours.
• Pouring paint — pre-mixed fluid acrylic for cell-pop technique. Easiest route into abstract painting.

What goes with the paint

• Brushes — acrylic, oil, watercolour, detail. Pick by job, not by colour of the handle.
• Canvases — single-thick from 13×18cm, double-thick (gallery-wrapped) from 20×25cm to 91×122cm.
• Easels — tabletop, floor, display and studio. Get your work to the right angle.
• Gesso primer — prime any surface before painting

Honest answer if you're starting out

Don't try to buy everything at once. The minimum painting kit is: 6 acrylic tubes (Signature line), a small brush set, a canvas pad or stretched canvas, a palette, a jar of water. Start there. Add as you find what's actually missing in your work.
