Black Gesso 500ml

Start on black and watch your colours do something different. This flexible matte black gesso primes and seals canvas, paper, board and most semi-porous surfaces, laying down a toothed surface that grips oil and acrylic — with the drama a white ground can't give you.

How to use

• Apply 2–3 thin coats for full, even coverage
• Sand between coats for a glass-smooth surface for detail work
• Dilute with water if you want it thinner

Best for moody underpaintings, neon and metallic colours that pop on a dark ground, and chalk or gel-pen lettering.
