Mont Marte Mannikin Male 30cm

A 30cm wooden figure you can pose when there's no model to draw.

This Mont Marte male mannikin is built in proportion to an average adult, with movable joints so you can set up a pose and draw it from any angle. Students use it for NCEA figure drawing, and comic and character artists use it to check how a body twists, leans or foreshortens before drawing a scene.

It's made from natural timber and stands on a base, so it stays put on the desk.

What it does well, and what it doesn't

• Good for: standing, walking, sitting, reaching and simple action poses, plus checking proportion, angles and how light falls on a figure.
• Not so good for: very tight crouches, crossed limbs, hands and faces. The joints only move so far, so use it for the overall shape of a pose and take the details from photos or real life.
