Frequently asked questions
How is contact cement different from regular glue?
Contact cement is applied to BOTH surfaces, allowed to dry tacky (10-15 minutes), then pressed together for an instant strong bond. Once contacted, it's joined immediately — no clamping required. Regular glue stays wet between surfaces and needs clamping.
Can I reposition after contacting?
No — that's the whole point. Once both tacky surfaces touch, they bond instantly. Position carefully before pressing together.
What's it used for?
Laminate edging on benchtops, leather repairs, shoe sole rebonding (industrial bond, not the flexible shoe glue), cork tiles, fabric to fabric, rubber inner tube patches, attaching vinyl.
Is it safe for indoor use?
Use in a well-ventilated room — the solvent fumes are strong while curing (15-30 min). Once cured, fully safe.
Will it work on glass or metal?
Glass: no. Metal: only when bonding metal to leather, rubber or fabric — not metal-to-metal.
