Copper-coloured metal leaf for gilding frames, lettering, sculpture and mixed-media work.

Leafing is easier than it looks. Brush on leafing size (the adhesive), wait until it turns clear and tacky, lay the leaf on, then brush away the loose edges. Finish with a sealer so it doesn't tarnish.

Mont Marte Leafing Size 60ml and a soft brush. A sealer is a good idea for anything that gets handled. Or get leaf and size together in the Gold & Copper Gilding Combo.

Can I use PVA glue instead of leafing size?

PVA can work, but it dries quickly, so you have to lay the leaf fast before it stops being sticky. Leafing size is made for the job: it goes tacky in about 25 minutes and stays tacky for up to 24 hours, so you can lay the leaf without rushing. It also dries clear, so any size that shows around the edges won't spoil the look.
