Mont Marte Watercolour Pad German Paper A3 180gsm: 15 sheets of A3 watercolour paper for practice and lighter washes. The paper is acid-free German paper with a medium tooth texture. The sheets are tape bound, so they come off cleanly, and sit on a 2mm backing board. There are painting tips printed inside the cover.

A straight answer on 180gsm: it's fine for light washes, sketching, watercolour pencils and studies. Heavy, wet layers will make it buckle. Tape the sheet down on all four sides with masking tape before you paint and let it dry flat, and it will stay much flatter. If you paint wet and in layers, go for a 300gsm pad, such as the A3 300gsm pad or A4 300gsm pad.

FAQ

Is 180gsm thick enough for watercolour? For light washes and practice, yes. For heavy, wet work, use 300gsm.

Why choose A3? It gives you room for bigger landscapes and school art projects, and you can cut sheets down for cards.
